Awake

I’m outta here.
I’m so done.
With eyes open, the dark fog of repression
lifts.
There’s a new yellow sun rising on
the horizon, and
An endless field of red flowers beckons
to me, waving gaily.
Me again, I take a breath and a step
over the jamb, leaving
The withering life back down the brown
narrow past
Behind me, and closing tight the
gate as I go.
I’m ready to begin again.
I’m outta here.
smiles....love the tranquility and peace you find in the letting go...and an interesting concept as well on beginning where the last left off...
ReplyDeleteDefinitely something very empowering about letting go of the past and stepping forward into your life. Love this!
ReplyDeleteI love this - so defiant and vulnerable at the same time ... nice.
ReplyDeletePatti, I love the feeling I get from this poem. Very empowering.
ReplyDeletePatti,
ReplyDeleteI agree with Sharon's assessment: defiant and vulnerable at the same time.
