Pound of Flesh, Over Hard

independence and free will,
and the right to her own body,
have been marinated in rhetoric,
then skewered and cooked to a crisp
over the flames of righteousness.

they queue up like hungry
savages or convicts at mealtime,
knife and fork in hand,
pushing and shoving as they wait
their turn to have a piece of her.

would you like some tea with that?

Gritty and brave write....I find it sad that until now we have to fight for those rights ~

There's so many to share with and everyone wants a piece. That's the way of the world. The greedy and the crooks would corner the market and take everything. Great write,Patti!

Really profound and such a shame that it's true.

Very powerful! (On a different note, I almost wrote something about tea and toast in my own recently penned Mag.)
