  1. A very strong haiku here Patti... loved it! Today appearances are valued much more than the beauty inside... which is a very very sad development!

    Life in starving rocks!

  3. I question the need to starve to please people, get an appearance that's stunning.. If only people took more effort to be the best in character than appearance.

  13. While psychologists stress the human need for compliments, I love the way poets emphasize the message in a few words. Well done Patti.

  15. A sad story indeed and what a waste of precious life; only if we knew then that life is much more than the looks.

  16. Waste of a precious life ... girls that will be pretty for their surroundings and starving themselves. It's sad ... I once have cared for a young 18 year old boy with annorexia. It was a sad guy ... with a lot of troubles ... for example he was trying to open up to the world as a homosexual but couldn't do that. He was starving himself ... not capable to adjust. Very sad.

    Very true!!!
Some starve due to lack of food... Due to inability to buy some... And many starve to look skinny...

  19. Yes, very real tragedies here. Compulsive dieting because of unreal perception of body image, very sad. A Mental disorder.

  21. You tackled multiple types of starvation and painted a powerful picture--all in 17 syllables. Nicely done! :)
