The Dalai Lama

He stands in robes
Of red and gold,
Always cheerful
Eyes a-twinkle.
He looks at peace,
As if he knows
Something unknown
To you and me.

His eyes turn upward
As he listens.
And then he smiles,
Face wreathed in wrinkles.
And he prays aloud
“Ha! Laughing Buddha,
That’s a good one!”
