A Metaphorical ¡Olé!

(Painting: Untitled by Raoul Dufy)

After shoving everyday clutter beneath the bed,
stashing laundry in the closet behind the stair,
leaving Mexican take-out menus to stew in a pan,
she carefully slipped into a cool scented bath and
away from her boring reality she swam.

In the glow of a festive flickering candle and
the frosty margarita she held in her hand,
she rode sweet salty waves to exotic far lands
where laughter played like a boistrous band
and humdrum one-notes could ne'er be found.

  2. Now, that laundry stashed away behind the stairs: own up: was that done or not done ? Oh forget it - go back to the boisterous band in your bath :-)

  9. A little escape, now and then, is a very good thing. Yes, I'll have another margarita, please.

  10. If we all get into that tub it'll be crowded indeed! In the first 3-lines, I thought she was preparing for guests, and then came that well-planned bath with candle and drink and all, and I realized she was the guest and out-of-sight = out-of-mind. I love her choice of boisterous, this is not necessarily to chill out, it is a major get-away. Lovely! but stewed menus? I'll bet it's being delivered.

  11. How nice to have a respite a little a time. A little day dream and a nice little bath. We deserve a break, yes!

  21. I want to go--grin! WAIT! I've BEEN.

We each have our own escape route, mine was on two wheels, back home in a few days...all I found was Peace, a new (for me) form of prayer, awareness of so much, so many, so every......stopped and smelled, ya know? (Is that ALL?!!)
    PEACE, Friend!
    Nice to read you again.

  23. I just wish my bath was big enough to bury my knees so I could sip a salt tipped margarita....I'll have to wait for summer and languish in the pool.
