Inevitable sadness drenches me where I lie,
Huddled in bed, blanket pulled over my head.
What a cold lesson it is to learn that,
When the heavens weep in sodden sobs
To the sound of so many hearts breaking,
There can be no shelter from the storm.

ReplyDeleteAnger can only take you so far. You already know that you can't hide from the pain of it too. I hate the line "I'm so sorry for your loss". Heard it too many times before when I was too young to hear it myself. I just hope that you & the people that mean the most to you can come together to help each other heal when you need it the most.

ReplyDeleteOne thing I really like about your writing, Patti, is how you are not afraid to tackle difficult subjects. I like that you can face and express emotions surrounding dark things. I like that when something sucks you say it sucks. This is very powerful and very real. I think it is one of the best things you've written. Thank you.
