It’s not that they aren’t there.
They just hide sometimes, those words
They just hide sometimes, those words
That are too shy to come out and say hi.
But with just the right amount of coaxing
And gentle nudges from behind,
They might peek out from behind the curtain
To see what they might find.
To see what they might find.
And if the air feels just right and the audience is smiling,
Maybe they’ll take to the stage, to
Pirouette, plié and dance across the page.
But only if they’re in the mood.
That's just the way it is with words.
That's just the way it is with words.

How true of words & new nervous little performer! What a sweet post ... I love the photos...especially the one at the end with the dog in a tutu! So cute!
ReplyDeleteha. love it....words and ballerinas...so true both ways...of course i am partial being married to a ballerina, but...
ReplyDeleteSo very, very true... these days, my words not only refuse to wear a tutu, they won't even lace up their shoes.
ReplyDeleteRascals.
cute,
ReplyDeletelovely images for both the dances and the cute little angels.
Good insight well said! Love the photos, relate to the reluctant words.
ReplyDeleteA great analogy there. Loved it.

ReplyDeleteaward, check out details yourself...
Happy Wednesday!
smiles...yes - words have a life of their own...and when they don't think it's their time, they just hide and don't show up...but this is also the beauty and the advenure...so we gently try to help them get into the right mood for dancing..smiles - enjoyed this patti
ReplyDeleteThis was sweet, especially with those adorable pictures. I think I should adopt a more playful approach to my wordsmithing after reading this :)
ReplyDeleteWonderful, playful and inventive metaphor. It feels just right. Especially as one begins. The more one writes, the more praise one gets, the more of a diva one becomes (smiles). Really fine piece here.
ReplyDeleteThis one put a smile on my face. A sweet metaphor, and oh so true.
ReplyDeleteIsn't that the truth? There are times that my entire vocabulary hides behind the curtain. Beautiful work, left me smiling.

smiles...i remember this one..dance the dance patti...i know you can write...smiles.
ReplyDeleteI like the picture and analogy.. very nice one. I like these lines:
ReplyDeleteMaybe they’ll take to the stage, to
Pirouette, plié and dance across the page.
I like how you used ballerinas to portray words...nice! :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute and effective analogy. From a mother's POV and love. A real tender, beautiful piece of writing with much love. Excellente reflection.
ReplyDeleteThis fits the bill just right! Nice idea to allude to an art form through another art form. They're all related at some level, aren't they?
ReplyDeleteVery precious. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteThank you to all my dVerse Poetry Pub friends who came by to read! You guys are great.
ReplyDeletethose words... the right ones are sometimes just out of reach... you wrote about this so well.
