Nighttime Caller

(Phote by Vera Kratochvil at PublicDomainPictures.net)

Three times last night, I thought
I heard your ring, though the phone
was distant and silent. Each time, as
I sought to answer, the ringing ceased.

But in the dread still-dark of dawn,
I answered your call in my dream,
and heard your voice, broken. And in that
moment, the monster that lurked, lunged.

I have a feeling this is one dream that I'd want to stay far, far away from. Your words sent a shiver that started at that top of my scalp. Frightfully well written, Patti.

Yikes! That's one scary dream...and a scary photo to match. Good one, Patti.

There's a quietness in your words, even with the ringing. If that is a nightmare, I wouldn't want to experience it!

Awesome 55!

I think the monster just appeared here a few hours ago. Now to put it back in the dark place where it belongs and not allow it to access the brightening soul that is once again driving me forward to happiness.

What a great spin. What a photograph. I have to investigate that. I do appreciate Vera's photographs. She and her hubby do well, don't they?

This is really good. I like the idea of answering the call in the dream. Very eerie. I often have similar dreams myself and they freak me out. Yikes!
